The Dig Hope volleyball game Thursday night saw Lee County High School take on Southern Lee. The battle of cross-town rivals took a backdrop to a bigger cause.

The game was not only about volleyball but it was also about cancer awareness. The game was mostly about honoring cancer patients and showing respect for them.

The Dig Hope game Thursday night, between LCHS and Southern Lee, benefited the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Before the game started, the Jackets honored people that had or still have cancer in the audiences and had them stand to show a sign of support.

The theme of the game was to dress in pink. Many people dressed and accessories in pink shirts were filled up the stands and also on the court. The event was to raise awareness for breast cancer research, with the team selling Dig Hope T-shirts. All proceeds were to be given to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
