Lockdown lifted at LCHS Friday

SANFORD – Out of an abundance of caution Lee County High School was under a soft lockdown Friday afternoon. In total, the lockdown lasted approximately 30 minutes.

“At the request of law enforcement, due to an escaped prisoner from the correctional facility off of Bragg St., Lee County High School, Lee Early College and Bragg Street Academy have gone on lockdown.” was sent to parents Friday afternoon.

At 1:05 pm, parents received the following message, “Agencies are continuing efforts to locate the state prison escapee but do not feel it directly impacts our schools and we have been advised to resume normal activities.”

It is the second time this school year LCHS has been on lockdown.
