SANFORD – Lee County High School students and families are invited to Dairy Queen, October
24 from 4-8pm to support the Parent Teacher Student Organization. This event aims to raise
$300 for various school initiatives.
“We’d love to see lots of students, parents, and people who love Lee Senior. Once a Jacket,
always a Jacket,” said PTSO representative Melaine Hawes.
Funds raised will go towards teacher appreciation gifts and student events like the Homecoming Dance. These funds can help create a positive environment and provide resources that benefit both students and teachers. The PTSO has been sharing information on LCHS social media and hopes teachers and students will also spread the word.
The cheerleaders and the Yellow Jacket mascot will be present for photo opportunities. Senior cheer captain Hannah Hooker will be bringing her and the team’s spirit for this event. Hooker has also played a big role in this event with her leadership and enthusiasm.
“Cheering and learning new cheers and stunts. We usually bring out pom poms with us and just
cheer as people come in,” the cheer captain said. “It’s like a job, and if I can’t get the job done,
then the rest of the team can’t do their job.”
DQ was chosen for the event due to its success with other schools’ Spirit Nights and the
owner’s cooperation. “We‘d love to do one spirit night a quarter. If students have a suggestion of a restaurant, please let us know,” added Hawes.
Hooker emphasized the importance of their role in motivating both the football team and the
community to support their cause. ”Just like we cheer on the football field and try to give them
motivation to play the game, it’s the same way we can give people motivation to want to donate to our cause.”
The PTSO hopes for a strong turnout to make the event a success and support the LCHS
community. Everyone’s participation will make a significant impact.
